Captain Armando Salazar is the primary antagonist in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. He was once a ruthless and respected officer in the Spanish Royal Navy, tasked with hunting down and eradicating pirates in the Caribbean.

Salazar harbored a particular hatred for pirates and earned the moniker "El Matador del Mar" (The Sea Butcher) for his brutal methods. However, he was outmaneuvered and trapped in the Devil's Triangle by a young Jack Sparrow, who tricked him into sailing his ship, the Silent Mary, into the cursed location.

After years imprisoned as a ghostly being, Salazar is freed when Henry Turner intentionally breaks the curse. Driven by vengeance, he seeks to kill Jack Sparrow and all pirates, wielding his undead crew and spectral ship against anyone who stands in his way. His ultimate goal is to reverse his spectral form and return to life, continuing his mission to cleanse the seas of piracy.
